Do you think it’s scarier to see something that defies logic, or to hear something with no reasonable explanation? Sure, a lot of the time you get both, but seeing a human shape that moves in utter silence is sometimes worse than the one you hear moving down the hallway. Likewise, hearing whistling from the woods at night is harder to explain away than a strange shape that maybe, possibly, was just a tree moving in the wind. And sometimes, worst of all, is when the sounds and sights suddenly… just… stop.
